Splenda or Equal Nutrasweet? What's healthier?

Hello family & friends!

Just wanted to let you know that I did a little research on Splenda and Equal Nutrasweet. I really wouldn't know which is best, but Splenda seems much better than Equal. There hasn't been any long term studies on Splenda but researchers from Duke are producing articles and findings of low bacteria found in normal fecal matter, GROSS. It doesn't state any long term affects yet?

There were many articles published on Equal in the last few years. For a very long time unpublished articles on the product were known, but never released.

Splenda is not natural; it is a chlorinated artificial sweetener, (does that mean we are consuming chlorine?) There have been no long-term human studies on the safety of Splenda; however, issues have been raised about Splenda in a new study from Duke University.
According to the study, Splenda suppresses beneficial bacteria and directly affects the expression of the intestinal….. anatomy, decreased bacteria which helps produced normal fecal matter. The actual scientific breakdown is available on

FDA Final Rule on Sucralose ( You can also check http://www.truthaboutsplenda.com/resources/medical.html )
"Sucralose is a disaccharide (carbohydrates made up of two sugar molecules) that is made from sucrose in a five-step process that selectively substitutes three atoms of chlorine for three hydroxyl groups in the sugar molecule. It is produced at an approximate purity of 98 percent.

Equal Nutrasweet- read the article! Scariness! Many side affects apparently.

I guess were damned either way. There isn't really anything that's super duper great for you, but as long as you stick with whole natural foods, you are pretty safe. The nutritionists I work for states there are so many studies on everything we eat. The best way to handle the never ending articles on sugar substitution, foods, organic to non organic fruits and veggies is to do the research yourself, and then decided what you think is best for you and your family.
